First painting for my marathon fundraising!

For Janet, my favorite <3 I hope you like it!

Saturday's LSD and good/bad running gear

There was no scheduled Leukemia and Lymphoma Society/Team in Training LSD run on Sat, so I went with Em to the NCR trail for an 11 mile LSD.

IT WASN'T BAD AT ALL! I'd done 10/11 a month ago, but it was a struggle. On Sat, we had a pretty good steady pace, and it was easy until about 9.5 miles, after which I kind of wanted to die. But overall, it was so much easier than last month!! ^______^ Thanks to Em for putting up with my slow ass for the last 2 miles. The best thing, is that we went to Wegman's afterwards, DSW Shoe Warehouse Shoe Warehouse, Dick's Sporting Goods, and Panera! So productive for a Saturday morning! I had french onion soup for lunch to replace my electrolytes (sodium and cheese). And today, Sunday, I FEEL GOOD! No stiffness, muscle aches, bony problems, or broken legs! I think it's my shoes...

The Best (Neutral) Running Shoes Ever: Saucony Progrid Triumph 5
Comfortable, not too light or heavy, the right amount of room in the front. Even better with my Superfeet. And most importanly, no injuries since I've been using them. Just bought my 2nd pair last week. The only downside is that they are kind of ugly.

Worst Sport Headphones in the World: Philips Nike HJ020 Sport Headphones
Remember how the right side crapped out a couple weeks ago for no reason at all? Yeah, well I was taking them off the other day and they got caught in my hair. I tugged gently and... now the left side doesn't work either. Super.

dcfc

Went to the Death Cab for Cutie concert tonight! It was awesome! Amazing sound, and we got to stand right up at the front. Ben Gibbard's voice is really great and they put on an excellent live show. Most of the songs they performed sounded exactly like they do on the albums, which was great to know that not much tweaking goes into their production, but I also wish we would have gotten some more guitar/drum solos/jams/whatever. But overall, I had a really good time. Rogue Wave, who I have never heard before, opened for them and they had a cool sound; I'm interested to hear the content of their songs, as it was kind of hard to understand lyrics at that volume. Now I've got to start my psych patient writeup for my presentation tomorrow :) Night all, tg

edit: speaking of cool music, chromeo (two step)

TNT update/dog names

Wow, I've been really overwhelmed and touched by the amount of response I've gotten from just sending a message about TNT/LLS through FB. Lots of notes of encouragement and a lot of contributions! Keep them coming! :) I took a rest day from training today, but am already itching to run again. I was going to run in the AM, but one of my classmates who will be with me on our first day of Psych at Bayview is going to join me, so we'll probably go after work.

In other news:
Over pizza, we thought of dog names for a greyhound. Our top three are Quattro, Moto, and THE STIG. The Stig, for obvious reasons, is the favorite right now.

Edit: Whoa, The Stig is on Facebook...

today's LSD or headphone killer

time of day: 1030AM
miles: 8
minutes: 75
weather: hot
route: mt. vernon down to inner harbor, past fed hill, past domino sugar, around ft. mchenry and back, via fort ave to inner harbor, to mt. vernon.
most rewarding part of the run: finding salt stains on the armband of my iPod holder
most disappointing: right ear killing the 2nd set of headphones in a month. left ear seems to get along fine w/ audio, but right ear really does not tolerate it. i haven't decided whether to spend more money on another pair of headphones, or just view it as a safety feature - 1 sided music so i can hear cars and people coming!
