2008 Baltimore 10 Miler

#63 of 682 women
#14 of 124 25-29 year-olds
Net time 1:21:46
Net pace 8:11
Skills learned: 1 - Drinking from paper cups while running. After pouring most of a Dixie-cupful of water down my shirt as I ran by the first water station, I spent the next two miles thinking about how annoyed I was that I was now both thirsty AND wet (and how the other 1500 or so people that were running were neither thirsty nor wet). At the next water station, I figured out how to pinch the cup so the mouth became a lopsided figure-8 so I could suck water out the small opening. This doesn't work quite as well with full cups of water, because the liquid close to the top splooshes out the bigger opening while you're trying to drink and gets you in the face.

I can do better next year :)

edit: I can't stop thinking about this weekend! I HAD SO MUCH FUN! Running gives such a high... I think I have a problem... Today, I told myself I would take a day off. BUT I HAD TO RUN ANYWAYS. For those of you who are familiar with the CAGE questions:
*C: I am often trying to cut down mileage, but instead I usually end up bumping it up...
*A: I get annoyed when people tell me to ease up or take a day off or skip a day
*G: When I run instead of hanging out with friends or doing work, or go home early from a party so I can wake up the next morning to run, I feel kind of guilty..
*E: Sometimes I need it as an eye-opener
