I have to confess: I really need to get my training sh*t together. I'm about 1 month into "training", but I'm so disorganized, I can already predict October badness if something doesn't change soon.
So TNT kind of makes you do group runs every weekend, which is lovely because I have met a lot of nice, motivated people this way. Also, they bring things like gummy bears and Gatorade to the trail, which is very good. However, the schedule seems a little more geared to people with a little bit less baseline running to start, so for the first couple weeks, "long runs" were 2 and 3 miles, and right now, we're only up to 6. I'm not saying I'm good at running or anything, but if I'm going to drive half an hr. each way to the NCR every week, I'd like to get more than 50 min of running in for the day. I wasn't able to get a good answer from the coach on a good way to modify the schedule for me, so I've kind of been alternating between running the way I feel like it (i.e. randomly and long) until the TNT schedule catches up, and using the Jeff Galloway schedule (similar on/off days, more emphasis on walkbreaks). And then the other big problem is that both these schedules have a couple rest days a week. I haaaaaaaaate rest days, which is stupid, but I'd even rather just jog a bit or crosstrain. I can really only deal with 1 rest day a week max, or I go into withdrawal, which entails just being really physically uncomfortable until I run again.
So I've really got to try to figure out what the heck I'm doing with myself here. uggggggg....
